Security concept according to TKG §166

Operators of public telecommunications networks and providers of telecommunications services are obligated to implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures. These requirements are regulated in the Telecommunications Act and, in particular, require the development of a structured security concept.

A security concept according to the German Telecommunications Act (TKG) describes the existing network and system architecture, identifies security-critical components, and documents measures to protect the telecommunications infrastructure.

We support network operators and telecommunications providers in the creation and further development of security concepts in accordance with Section 166 of the German Telecommunications Act (TKG). In doing so, we combine regulatory requirements with concrete technical security measures for networks, systems, and operational processes.

Requirements for security concepts according to the German Telecommunications Act (TKG)

The Telecommunications Act obliges operators of public telecommunications networks to implement suitable technical and organizational measures to protect their infrastructure.

The aim of these requirements is to ensure the availability and integrity of telecommunications networks and to reduce risks to critical communication infrastructures.

A security concept describes in particular:

• the structure and architecture of the telecommunications infrastructure

• safety-critical systems and network components

• potential threats and risk scenarios

• Technical measures to secure networks and systems

• organizational processes for handling security incidents

The security concept serves as central documentation of the security measures and forms the basis for audits and assessments by supervisory authorities.
